Nigeria— Senate And House Of Rep's Accept Election Proposal

The Senate and House Representative joint committee on electoral act amendment has accepted the election proposal on Tuesday.



At the National Assembly conference meeting held in Abuja, the committee made it clear about the election proposal acceptance and stated that the presidential election will be placed last in the election.

The House of Representatives committee stated that 2010 election amendment electoral act sequence contained in section 25, subsection 1, will be re-ordered and will take place as follows;

(i) national assembly,
 (ii) governorship election,
(iii) state assembly election,
(iv) presidential election,

prior to the former amendment which would have followed this order;
 (i) state house of assembly election
(ii) national assembly election
 (iii) governorship election, and (iv) presidential election.
