Nigeria — UN Lunches The Appeal For $1Billion For Boko Haram Victims

The United Nations (UN) has released a $1bn (£720m) appeal to help north-eastern Nigeria, the region badly affected by  the Boko Haram's insurgency for almost ten years.

The Boko Haram insurgency has caused widespread suffering, destruction of infrastructure and has sent most basic services crumbling.
About eight million individuals need some type of philanthropic help this year alone.

The UN office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs says the money will provide life-saving emergency assistance to the most vulnerable.

The UN humanitarian Agency, which made known this interest at an occasion in the Nigerian capital Abuja, says the procedure will be completed in conjunction with the Nigerian government and other worldwide partners.
