What is a blog?
A blog is a type of website which entries (called posts) are arranged in order with recent posts at the top. Blogs also have a sections under each post for comments from readers. Most blog posts are written informally and tends to be conversational.
What is the difference between a blog and a website?
Well according to Srikanth AN at Shoutmeloud.com, a blog is basically a web log that a blogger makes use of for chronological listing of blog posts. A blog has the most recent content shown first followed by the previously updated content.
Put simply a blog is more of a diary, conversational, updated regularly, posts are arranged from new to old, and author’s name and bio are found at the beginning or end of a typical blog post.
While a website is organized, with the homepage linking you to various areas for the website, including its contact, terms and policies and frequently asked questions (FAQ). Note too that a website can also have a blog as part of it.

Who is a blogger?
A blogger is someone who writes the articles on a blog. A blogger can be anyone, from a teenager to a granny, a student or those in the working class, or even a fulltime housewife taking care of tough and stubborn kids.
But come to think of it? Can a student who undergoes the stress of lectures, tests, exams, struggling for high grades become a blogger? Or those who work day to day, with little or no time for themselves, how can these ones become bloggers? Not to talk of a mother struggling to take care of her home and three or more kids.
Sounds impossible right? But its not. Even the word says I’m-possible. Do you know why? Because you control the time you spend blogging. You can chose to publish a post per your free time. And with available tools, a blogger can write as many posts and decide when each one should be published. So no matter how busy you are, you can become a blogger.

Yes and No.. Why two contradicting answers?
If you want to become a blogger just to express yourself, or just for writing, and sharing thoughts with others, without the thought of making money from your blog. You do not be qualifications or certificates to be a blogger. It will be stressful at first, but you’ll get used to it.
If the only reason for setting up a blog is to make money from it. This is where most bloggers fail. The idea of getting rich quick through blogging is false.

Forget those words from your friends or family that you cannot be a blogger. Although its not that easy, but with time, you’ll become a pro blogger.
Now, the last question.
How to set up a blog?
Well, setting up a blog is not difficult if you’re smart and determined.
First, you’ll have to buy a domain name.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is simply the URL that brings viewers to your blog. For example, www.facebook.com is Facebook’s official URL. Hope you’ve understood this. Choosing a domain name should not be in haste. Your domain name should reflect your blog content. What do I mean?
Take this as an example. Which name sounds better when searching for construction company? J&B Limited, J&B Construction Limited, or J&B Builders? Well, you know the answer. The last two. But why are the last two names better? Because it portrays what the company stands for; ‘construction’. Hope you’re following. You can purchase a domain name from Godaddy or Nmecheap.
Secondly, you’ll have to purchase a hosting service from a hosting company.
Why do you need a hosting service?
Put simply, a hosting service is like a warehouse for your blog. Like the name implies, it hosts your blog’s content. Without a web hosting, your blog will be homeless.😥😥
There are numerous hosting services, both free and paid.
To create a blog for free, I’ll recommend blogger, a free blog publishing service from Google.
What You Need To Know About Blogger
Blogger is easy to operate, and a good choice for those who want to test blogging. To create a blog on blogger, simply sign in to blogger.com and create a blog.
By default, blogger gives you a free but, a subdomain name.
By subdomain i mean that your blogger URL will end with .blogspot.com which has its own disadvantages.
For one thing, it would be difficult to monetize your blog, that is; make money from it.
This is because most advertising programs do not accept a subdomain name. Secondly it makes your blog look unprofessional to some, no matter the hard work you put in.
But a good tool on blogger makes it possible for you to buy a domain name from the companies listed above and redirect your subdomain blogspot to it. So instead of abc.blogspot.com, viewers will see abc.com. Sounds more professional, right?
Although Blogger has a feature to add custom domain, it still lacks in many areas.
For paid hosting services, there are good web hosting companies with affordable prices and good services.
Bluehost is a very popular web hosting company.
Other web hosting companies include:
With numerous hosting companies, it may be confusing when choosing a hosting plan. Do an extensive research on it.
After purchasing a domain name and a hosting plan, integrate your blog with WordPress. Most hosting packages come with a one click WordPress install.
What is WordPress?
According to Wikipedia, WordPress is an open content management system (CMS) that allows users to extend the features of their blog. By content management system, Wikipedia means that WordPress is used to create and modify content that is used digitally or online.
