How does Alibaba Verify A Seller/Company?

Alibaba uses various methods to make sure its suppliers are genuine.

Below are some verification processes by Alibaba:

A&V Check

A&V Checked suppliers are Gold Suppliers who have passed authentication and verification inspection by Alibaba.com as well as a third-party verification company. All legal business licenses and contact persons are verified for those who have been A&V Checked.

Onsite Check

Onsite Check is a verification process for China Gold Suppliers. The supplier’s company’s premises are checked by Alibaba.com’s staff to ensure onsite operations exist there. The suppliers’ legal status and other related information are then confirmed by a third-party verification agency.

Assessed Supplier

Assessed Supplier is an Alibaba.com service providing you with fully independent and impartial third-party verification of your prospective suppliers. We commission several agencies based on their international reputation and proven credibility to test the claims made by suppliers.
For buyers, this means that instinct and trust are based only on concrete evidence. Assessed Supplier includes Assessment Reports Verified Videos and Verified Main Products.

Who Is A Gold Supplier?

Gold Supplier is a premium membership for suppliers on Alibaba.com. Members are provided with comprehensive ways to promote their products, maximizing product exposure and increasing return-on-investment. To become a Gold Supplier, members must pass a verification conducted by a third party agency. The verification process enables Alibaba.com to confirm that the business is legally registered in its region.

What is Trade Assurance?

Trade Assurance is a free service offered by Alibaba.com, designed to help build up trust between buyers and suppliers. It minimizes risk by guaranteeing money back in the event of a supplier failing to meet the terms of the order contract – including delivery delays, quality and quantity discrepancies or other processing problems.
If

  • Your products are not shipped on time as per the order contract

or

  • Your products do not meet the quality standards as per the order contract, Trade Assurance covers you. your transaction will be secured with Alibaba until you confirm that you’ve received the goods and that they are in good condition.

However, if you are dissatisfied with the order, you can request a refund from the supplier. If supplier agrees on your refund request, payment will be returned. If not, Alibaba will step in to resolve the case.

What procedures has Alibaba put in place to tackle a fraudulent case if the transaction was covered by Trade Assurance?

After the buyer submits dispute, the two parties have 3 to 30 days to negotiate without the involvement of Alibaba. From the 4th day onward, the buyer can request Alibaba assistance by clicking the “Escalate Dispute” button, or may continue to negotiate with the seller.
2. During the negotiation period, both parties need to respond each other’s proposal within 7 days, otherwise the dispute will be escalated (no reply from supplier in due time) or cancelled (no reply from buyer in due time) automatically.
3. Alibaba will also act as a mediator for any disputes which remain unresolved after 30 days of initial opening.

How do I contact a supplier or company?

Click the product, you want to purchase. On the product details page, click on supplier’s profile. You will be redirected the the official Alibaba page of the supplier. You can get the supplier’s contact details there.

Check the verification badges by Alibaba in which the supplier has.. These badges are to show that the supplier has passed those verification processes.
Also, check for the duration of time the supplier has been a gold supplier. It is written either on the badge or near it. I prefer dealing with 6yr gold suppliers and beyond. Also check for the number of transactions the supplier has done.

Find out if you can request a sample from the supplier. You can do this via the supplier’s email or social media contact.

Check if the supplier makes use of Alibaba’s Trade Assurance option. Also confirm the payment options accepted by the supplier.

What payments options are available on Alibaba

Credit card (Visa, Mastercard)Bank transfer (T/T)Western Union. Most sellers include other payment methods including, PayPal and Alipay Secure Payment.

How do i import my goods from China suppliers at a cheap rate?

Sometimes, when you’ve confirmed the products to order, when doing some inquiries from the company’s sales representative, you’re likely to find out that the shipping line used by the company is expensive. For example, most companies use DHL or EMS. These are good logistics companies, but remember that we are having a tight budget of 50 dollars.

So what do we need to do? Look for another cheaper but reputable logistics company based in China to do the shipping for you. You can search for this on Alibaba also. There are some logistics companies offering their services on Alibaba.
Contact the company’s representative only after you are sure that the company is genuine. Find out their shipping rates, payment options, shipping time, and pickup point in your country. Do not forget to choose a pickup point closer to you.

Some tips to cut down expenses.

try to round up your products to the nearest kilogram. What do i mean? Most Logistics companies calculate their shipping rates per kilogram. For some, 1.1kg is calculated as 2kg. So if you are buying products, try and make it round up. For example, if a flash drive weighs 0.3kg and you purchase 11;

  1. 3×11=3.3kg
    Weight: 4kg
    Shipping Fee=$12

The shipping company will calculate it as 4kg, and you’ll be paying for 4kg on 11 pieces, when you can pay that same 4kg price for more quantity.

0.3×13=3.9kg
Weight: 4kg
Shipping Fee=$12
Knowing these tips cuts down your expenses.

If you are satisfied, then complete your transaction and get the products company ship your goods to your shipping agent or get your shipping agent pick up the goods for you.

How do I sell my purchased goods?

This is a very tough question. You’ll have to be determined. There are some ways you can do this.

First, you can sell them on your blog. When designed properly, a blog can be a very good medium for online sales. If you do not know how to set up a blog, check out my complete tutorial on how to set up a blog.

You can sell them on online market websites such as Jiji.ng, and Olx. Simply create an account and start posting your ads.

You can also sell on a shop you own. Or you can showcase them on a trusted friend or relative’s shop.

Another way to sell your goods is to look for already existing sellers who are willing to buy from you. How can you succeed at this method?
First, find out the average price for that particular product in your area. Then talk to some sellers dealing on the same products as the one you sell. Sell for them a little lesser than their suppliers. Offer to bring the goods directly to their shop. This may spark up interest to purchase from you.

If a seller buys a product for 1000 naira and after transport expenses, he arrives at 1150 naira. He decides to sell for 2000 naira. After all expense incurred, your product arrives at 700 naira, and you are to sell at 1000, including offering to deliver at his door, its a big sale for him. That is a really tempting offer for the seller. You’ll gain, but not that much. However if you’re supplying in bulk, its a huge sale for you.

Conclusion

If you have 3 steady sellers you supply to, you’ve stood your ground on importation. Then look for more ways to expand your business and learn more ways you can make money online. For example, check out my complete tutorial on how to earn from your blog.
